Darkness closed close around your hopeful eyes,
your power runs away from helpful use,
your makers sat with bated breath and cries,
your search was long, but failed to find the truth.
Do you ever look out at the marble
of earth? Can you see, or have you strayed some
too far to know what it is we marvel
on the day to endless space you succumb?
Did they tell you how they searched for weeks
and scoured every square inch and mile?
Only once exhausting all ways to seek
declared them: too far, a mere missed machine child.
One day we’ll reach into the stars to see
the lonely fall of opportunity.
